I had heard about the Makkala Jagriti ….: Shruthi

I had heard about the Makkala Jagriti through someone at my apartment and it sounded very interesting. So, during my vacations in college, I decided to intern at Makkala Jagriti over everything else. At first, I was apprehensive as to how I would like the institution, the people, especially the children. But I soon realized that my fears were misplaced, as I had one of the most wonderful three weeks at Makkala Jagriti.
Though my work primarily involved a survey regarding the dropout students, I got the opportunity to interact with the children at the Learning Center. The times I spent there are immensely valuable and very close to my heart. From teaching them paint on the computer, to helping them with homework, to assisting them with their reading or just to talk to them about the latest movies and songs, I had the best internship ever! The children have incredible potential and are bursting with ideas and plan on how to conduct activities differently. Just being around them inevitably makes you feel energetic and happy. At the end of each day, one can’t help but feel excited to go back the next day!
Apart from the children, the staff at Makkala Jagriti is incredibly warm, friendly and most importantly, extremely dedicated in its work. The entire atmosphere is of one big, happy family.  My interaction with this organization has given me much contentment and has made me a better person. I would like to express my gratitude to Joy Ma’am for giving me the opportunity to volunteer here. Further, I would also like to thank my newly made friends: Roopa Ma’am, Vimal and Antony Sir, Shobha and Manjula Akka, Manjula Aunty, Rajini, Lavanya, Girija and Bhavani Akka for making my internship all the more pleasurable.
Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, and so did my internship. But rest assured that my relationship with Makkala Jagriti is to continue for a long time to come. I have already made a visit back to the Center from college, and I can’t wait to go back again!
