MAKKALA JAGRITI Expands horizons into RURAL VILLAGES at Koppal District.

Makkala Jagriti over 10 years has worked with primary and secondary level in government schools, slum communities and juvenile homes in Bangalore city, reached out to over 10000 children in urban communities.
On June 5th 2014 by along with planting saplings to mark the World Environment Day, we sown a seed of our new learning centres inside Rural Government Schools (Karakehalli & Hirebagnal villages in Koppal district, Karnataka) in collaboration with India Educate Trust. We will be working with more than 570 children in both these schools and some out of school children as well!
Makkala Jagriti’s role in this partnership will be to develop capacity of partner organization to set up learning centers, nurture a committed team and ensure sustainability of learning centers by developing collective ownership (of school teachers & principal, SDMC members, parents, facilitators and children). Towards this, in May 2014, we facilitated 2 week rigorous training for 4 facilitators who will be in-charge of the learning centers.
We also facilitated a collective vision building workshop with teachers of both schools, SDMC members and some village elders to take them along in the process of creating a holistic and child centered learning environment for children. Thus, through this initiative, Makkala Jagriti has taken a new step – of capacitating and supporting other NGOs, by reaching out to larger number of children from under served communities and scaling up holistic child development approach through partner organizations.
