Sangeetha lives in the Gopalapuram community and was spending her life sitting idly at home after completing her Bachelors in Commerce. That’s when she discovered the Makkala Jagriti community center in the Gopalapuram community. The idea of joining classes struck her, believing that it could be a transformative experience. She decided to take a chance and enrolled at Makkala Jagriti.
The community at MJ welcomed her with open arms, offering her a sense of belonging and freedom she had never experienced at home. They introduced her to basic computer skills and encouraged her to participate in outdoor activities she had missed out on during her school and college years. MJ offered classes in spoken English and computer skills, fostering an atmosphere of support and encouragement.
She recalls being ridiculed for speaking in English by her classmates as well as the community members and feeling insecure about herself. MJ opened a platform for Sangeetha to openly communicate with her friends and the facilitators without being judged.
Slowly she started to shed her fears, hesitations, and insecurities, take part in different activities, and take up responsibilities at the community center. Through Yuva Cafe, she secured a job and started believing in her abilities. Now, she works with Prime Placement Vision supporting her family and pursuing her dreams.
Sangeetha was a timid and insecure girl before being a part of the community center, Today, she has blossomed into a self-assured, self-reliant individual, eager to seize control of her life and pursue her aspirations. She encourages other youth from her community to join and have similar life-changing experiences.
