Child Care Institutions (CCIs) serve as vital components of India’s Juvenile Justice system, providing essential shelter and correctional support to children in need of care, protection and those in conflict with law, but many lack a nurturing learning environment. Disruptions in education, traumatic experiences, and limited exposure to holistic development hinder the children’s ability to integrate into society. Beyond basic care, CCIs must offer safe, supportive spaces for learning, personal growth, and emotional well-being.
Our goal is to ensure that children in CCIs grow up in nurturing environments where they build confidence, develop life skills, and integrate into mainstream society to lead stable, dignified lives.
We work directly with children while building capacity for staff and system strengthening to ensure children in CCIs experience safety, belonging, and meaningful learning.

We set up vibrant, structured learning spaces within CCIs where children participate in creative expression, life skills, socio-emotional learning, and physical development activities tailored to their needs.
We create vibrant learning environments across CCIs that offer unprecedented opportunities by strengthening learning outcomes and emotional wellbeing through SPICE-based sessions, theme-based learning, makerspace experiences, art-based activities, and exposure events.
We train caregivers and CCI staff in child-centric behaviour and practices through online forums as well as in-person training and workshops.
We support CCIs in establishing systems such as children’s committees, kitchen gardens, structured routines, library access, and consistent engagement practices—enabling CCI staff to independently run them and promote safety, children’s voice, and well-being.

The ‘Hosa Chethana’ sessions are the highlight of my week. They’re full of engaging activities—from fun games to life-skills like self-awareness and managing anger—that truly help me grow. What I value most is the safe space they offer, where I can share my feelings without fear of judgment. I look forward to every session and am grateful for the support they give me.
Morning and evening circles with the children have made a huge difference. Staff have become more approachable and children now feel safe to talk to us. There’s a noticeable change in the way they interact.
