After losing his father, Mahesh grew up without consistent family support and was placed in a Government Boys’ Home. Though he attended school, learning felt overwhelming. He grew withdrawn, avoided activities, and often stayed on the margins, watching rather than participating.
What made a difference was being noticed. Caregivers recognised Mahesh’s interest in music and art and encouraged him to explore them. With patient support in foundational literacy and numeracy, and tools that reduced fear — like using a calculator for math — his confidence slowly grew.
Today, Mahesh participates actively, explores challenges with curiosity, and finds joy in learning again. His journey shows how personalised care can help children rediscover belief in themselves.
